Corona Secondary School is a residential, co-educational school with the aim to create well-rounded students who are proudly Nigerian, able to express themselves and their culture in any environment either locally or internationally. The unique curriculum allows all students to study for local (NECO), regional (WAEC) and international (IGCSE) qualifications which equips them not just with the knowledge they will need in the future but also the skills that will allow them to be life-long learners.
The school, located at Agbara Estate provides our students with a peaceful and natural environment where they can study and thrive free from the stress of city life. This environment provides ample space for sports; students have access to football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, athletics and badminton as well as more unusual sports such as Taekwondo. The residential nature of the school also means that there is plenty of time for art, music and drama to thrive and for students to be exposed to a range of clubs, societies and activities.
At the CSS, emphasis is placed on active learning. Here our science laboratories and computer facilities provide students with opportunities for practical work and research while the provision of multi-media projectors and smart boards allow a range of teaching styles to be fully supported. Here we place great store on seeing the individual student both in the choice of subjects on offer and by encouraging teachers to build relationships of trust and mutual understanding with students so that the needs of each student can be understood and met.
Students are housed in a range of hostels, all of which provide adequate space for work, rest and play. Boys and girls are housed separately. Time outside lessons are carefully supervised to ensure that behaviours are of highest standard. Such communal living allows our students to develop tolerance, understanding and leadership as we strive to develop in our students good character as well as good academic results.
